Chief
Chaires joined the Schenectady Police Department in December, 1988. He worked
his way up through the ranks, earning a promotion to Chief on September 18th,
2008. Chief Chaires began his tenure as an Assistant Chief as Commander of the
Field Services Bureau. From 2004 through September 2008, he has been in charge
of the Administrative Services Bureau, which is comprised of:

Chief Chaires earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the Rockefeller
College of Criminal Justice, University at Albany. He is presently a Ph D
candidate at Rockefeller College. His career professional training
