SUBJECT:Shooting at 800 State Street

At approximately 8:55 pm this evening, the Schenectady Police Department received a phone call from Mohawk Ambulance personnel reporting a shooting victim had just walked into their 793 State Street facility seeking treatment. Officers responded to Mohawk Ambulance and learned the male victim had been robbed and shot while inside his apartment at 800 State Street. The victim, who was reported to be in stable condition after sustaining gunshot wounds to the left hand and lower left leg, reported to Officers that he was inside his apartment with a friend when he heard a knock at the door. Upon answering the door, the victim encountered his assailant, who shot him twice before taking cash and a cell phone. The assailant fled the residence in an undetermined direction. Following the robbery, the victim and friend walked across the street to seek medical treatment at Mohawk Ambulance. A short time later, the victim was transported to Albany Medical Center for further treatment of his injuries.

The suspect in this incident is described as a black male approximately 510 tall and thin build. No further physical description was provided to police. At the time of the incident, the suspect was dressed all in black and wore a black mask covering his face. No further details are available at this time.
