SUBJECT:MAN SHOT/KILLED AT STATE AND CATHERINE STREETS

Detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred at about 1:45 this morning at State and Catherine Streets.

A boyfriend and girlfriend were walking and having a verbal argument when a male on a bicycle rode by and made some comments to them. That started an argument between the two men, and the male on the bicycle pulled out a handgun and shot the other male in the head and lower back. The shooter then dropped the bike, ran across State Street and was last seen running south on Martin Street toward Albany Street.

The victim, 24-year-old Lamont Faulks of Chestnut Street, was transported to St. Clare’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim and the shooter apparently knew each other, but it is unknown to what extent.

The shooter is described as a tall and thin black male with medium skin. He was wearing a black knit hat and a black hooded sweatshirt at the time of the incident.

No other information is available at this time.
