DATE/TIME: Saturday, October 16th, 2004 / 10:15 PM

James Bowman, III (a.k.a. “Pay Me”), the suspect in the shooting death of Lamont Faulks at State and Catherine Streets early Thursday morning, was apprehended by detectives late this afternoon as he was fleeing Schenectady for New York City.

Detectives received information that Bowman was getting a ride to New York. They established surveillance and observed the vehicle he was riding in enter the Thruway at Exit 25 at about 5:50 p.m. With assistance from the New York State Police, the vehicle was stopped in the Guilderland service area. Bowman, another male, and the female driver were taken into custody without incident. Two handguns were recovered, although it is unknown at this time if either of the guns was used in the murder.

Bowman has not yet been charged in connection with Faulks’ murder.

It is unknown where Bowman had been staying since the incident.
