SUBJECT:NOTT STREET BANK OF AMERICA ROBBED / SUSPECT CAPTURED
A man who robbed the Bank of America branch at 645 Nott Street about 9:40 am today was apprehended by patrol officers shortly after the robbery.
The suspect entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money. The teller complied and gave the man an amount of money that is not being disclosed. Immediately following the robbery, bank personnel notified police and provided a description of the suspect. Ptl. Roger Malewicz, in the area of the bank on an unrelated matter, observed inside Mohawk Grocery (one block west of the bank) an individual fitting the suspectís description. Ptl. Malewicz approached the suspect, who immediately fled. Malewicz engaged the suspect in foot pursuit. After a short foot chase, Ptl. Robert Dashnow and Ptl. Marisela Mosher took the suspect into custody.
Evidence from the robbery was recovered. Nobody was injured during the robbery or the foot chase.
Jason M. Ryan, 25, of 413 Peek Street in Schenectady, has been charged with one count of Third Degree Robbery. He is being held in Police Headquarters lock-up pending arraignment this afternoon.
