SUBJECT:MAN ARRESTED AFTER EARLY MORNING VEHICLE PURSUIT
A 21-year-old Schenectady man has been arrested on numerous charges after leading officers on a lengthy vehicle pursuit early this morning.
At about 2:45 a.m., Louis A. King, III of 529 Paige Street, was stopped by patrol officers on Brandywine Avenue at Agnes Street for speeding in his 1993 Ford sedan. While stopped, King suddenly fled in his vehicle and initiated a pursuit that traveled through several parts of the city. He eventually got onto I-890 – traveling east in the westbound lanes – and drove to the NYS Thruway Exit 25 interchange. King entered the Thruway and traveled east. He got off at Exit 24, and then got onto the Northway northbound. At about 3:25, while attempting to exit the Northway at Exit 4, King slid off the exit ramp and rolled his vehicle. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle with officers. King sustained some minor cuts in the crash that were treated at the scene by the Colonie Fire Department.
King has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Endangerment-1st degree (felony), Reckless Driving, Obstructing Governmental Administration, Resisting Arrest, and several Vehicle & Traffic Law infractions. He was arraigned this morning in Police Court and remanded to the Schenectady County Jail.
