Detectives are investigating the robbery of a Central Brown cab driver that occurred in front of 405 Summit Avenue at about 9 p.m. Monday evening in which one of the assailants fired a gun.

The 53-year-old male cabbie was dispatched to 405 Summit Avenue for a fare going to Mont Pleasant. Upon arriving, 5 black males were standing in front of the residence. Four of them got into the back of the cab and one entered the front passenger seat. The front seat passenger pointed a handgun at the cabbie and demanded his money. As this was happening, one of the back seat passengers struck the cabbie in the head with an unknown object and also demanded money. After the cabbie complied with their demands, the subjects ran from the cab. While driving away, the cabbie heard several gunshots. He was not injured in the incident and the cab did not appear to have been struck by the gunshots.

The front seat passenger is described as being a dark-skinned black male in his late teens, 510, medium build, wearing a dark jacket.
