SUBJECT:Father Arrested After Giving Drugs to Daughters

Late last week, Schenectady Police Youth Aid Detectives were contacted by Schenectady County’s Child Protective Services Unit reporting child abuse and maltreatment allegations perpetrated by a father on his children. Upon investigation, Detectives learned that John J. Molnar, 43, of 33 Fehr Avenue, Schenectady, routinely provided one of his young daughters with cocaine, crack cocaine, and marihuana. In addition to providing the drugs, Molnar instructed his daughter how to ingest each. The child, who was initially offered marihuana by her father when she was eleven, began smoking with him when she was thirteen. She began using cocaine and crack cocaine with him when she was fourteen. The child has been placed with friends.

Through the investigation, Detectives also learned Molnar encouraged his nine-year-old daughter to smoke marihuana. Molnar provided the marihuana and instructed the child how to smoke it. The child is now with her biological mother.

Molnar has been charged with the following crimes:

First Degree Unlawfully Dealing With a Child – Class A Misdemeanor (4 counts)
Endangering the Welfare of a Child – Class A Misdemeanor (4 counts)
Third Degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance – Class B Felony (1 count)
Second Degree Criminal Sale of Marihuana – Class D Felony (1 count)

Molnar was arraigned this afternoon in Schenectady City Court. He was remanded to the Schenectady County Jail without bail and will reappear in city court tomorrow morning for further proceedings.
