SUBJECT:WOMAN SHOT & KILLED IN DOMESTIC INCIDENT

Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a 48-year-old woman that occurred at about 1:15 this morning inside her 1651 Fourth Avenue house. Her husband is the suspected shooter and is in custody.

The victimís 26-year-old daughter called police from a 2nd floor closet and reported that her 45-year-old stepfather shot her mother during an argument. Responding officers could not gain entry to the house and attempts to make contact with the man were unsuccessful. The Departmentís Special Operations Squad responded and used a ladder to rescue the caller through a 2nd floor window. She was not injured in the incident. After the caller was removed from the house, the Special Operations Squad gained entry to the residence and took the man into custody. A handgun was recovered. The victim was found dead with a single gunshot wound to her head.

The man has not yet been charged.
