SUBJECT:OFFICER ERIC VERTERAMO SCHOLARSHIP PRESENTATION

The Schenectady Police Benevolent Association will award the 2nd annual Officer Eric J. Verteramo Scholarship on Wednesday at Noon at Schenectady Police Headquarters.

The scholarship was established in memory of Officer Verteramo who died in the line-of-duty on April 11th, 2004, and is awarded to a Schenectady High School senior student-athlete who will be majoring in a criminal justice-related field at an accredited college or university. Due to successful fundraising efforts, the PBA has increased the award from $1,000 to $2,500.

This year’s recipient is 18-year-old Leroy Pennant, Jr., a varsity football player and wrestler. Leroy will attend Schenectady County Community College this fall.

PBA President Robert Hamilton will present the award to Leroy. Members of the PBA Executive Board, Police Chief Michael Geraci and Officer Verteramo’s parents will attend the ceremony.
