A 23-year-old city man was charged late this evening with murdering 26-year-old William King on Main Avenue at about midnight on Friday, September 9th. King’s body was found along the curb near a parked car at 7 a.m. that morning.

Todd Perkins, of 823 Hamilton Street, has been charged with Murder-2nd degree in King’s death. Perkins is accused of using a 9mm handgun to shoot King numerous times in the chest. An autopsy revealed that he died from internal bleeding after being shot in the heart.

Perkins was located earlier today at a Howard Street residence, brought to Police Headquarters for questioning and subsequently charged.

The weapon used in the August shooting and King’s murder has not been recovered.

Perkins is being held overnight at Police Headquarters and will be arraigned in Police Court at 9 a.m. Friday morning.
