SUBJECT:PRICE CHOPPER ROBBERY POSSIBLY LINKED TO RECENT BANK HEISTS

Detectives continue to investigate Sunday evening’s robbery of the Price Chopper supermarket at 1640 Eastern Parkway and they believe the suspect is the same man who robbed 2 Schenectady banks recently.

The white male suspect entered the store at about 8:50 Sunday night, went to the customer service counter and handed the clerk a note demanding money. The man said he had a gun, but none was displayed. The clerk complied and gave the man an amount of money that is not being disclosed. The man then left the store in an unknown direction. No one was injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as 5’8” tall, 160 pounds and was 35-40 years old. He was wearing a green coat and an off-white baseball cap with a gray or greenish brim.

Based on the robber’s physical description and video surveillance images, detectives believe that the same man also robbed the First Niagara bank on Union Street on November 2nd and the Trustco Bank on Gerling Street on October 22nd. He may also be connected to other recent bank robberies in the Capital Region and Vermont.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call Schenectady Police.
