SUBJECT:MAN ARRESTED FOR DIVISION STREET SLASHING


A 27-year-old city man has been arrested for slashing and critically injuring a 22-year-old man on Division Street on Saturday afternoon.

Jadel Whitfield – of 1829 Avenue B – was apprehended last night at about 9:45 on Santa Fe Street.

During an argument about a girl, Whitfield attacked Roy Schulenburg, ripping 2 chains from Schulenburg’s neck and then slashing his face with a knife. After the incident, Whitfield fled from the scene in a vehicle and Schulenburg was driven to St. Clare’s Hospital.

Schulenburg is still being treated at St. Clare’s for serious facial wounds, but is expected to recover.

Whitfield is charged with Attempted Murder in the 2nd degree, Assault in the 1st degree and Robbery in the 1st degree. He was arraigned this morning in Police Court and remanded to the Schenectady County Jail without bail.
