SUBJECT:PAROLEE ARRESTED FOR JUNE 17TH SCHONOWEE VILLAGE ASSAULT


A 47-year-old parole absconder has been charged with assaulting a woman inside her Schonowee Village apartment on June 17th and seriously injuring her.

Edward Galmore, of 152 Jay Street, was captured by state parole officers in Syracuse last Thursday and brought back to Schenectady that evening.

Galmore is an acquaintance of the victim, 52-year-old Roseann Wilson, and was visiting when he viciously attacked her. Galmore punched Wilson in the face, breaking her nose, then poured bleach down her throat and on her body. He then attempted to light her on fire and eventually ignited some bedding before leaving the apartment. Wilson was found by firefighters who responded to a fire call at the apartment. She sustained internal injuries as well as 2nd degree burns to her face, neck and chest. Wilson is still being treated at Ellis Hospital and her condition has improved.

Galmore is charged with the felonies of Attempted Murder-2nd degree, Assault-1st degree and Arson-2nd degree. He is also charged with the felony of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property-4th degree in an unrelated incident in which he used a stolen welfare benefit card to make grocery purchases.

Galmore is being held at the Schenectady County Jail.
