SUBJECT: 16-YEAR-OLD KILLED IN YATES VILLAGE SHOOTING

Detectives are investigating the murder of a 16-year-old Schenectady boy who was shot at about 9:40 last night at the Yates Village apartments on Van Vranken Avenue.

Alejandro Rodriguez, of Jerry Street, was arguing with a black male in the A Court when the male pulled a handgun from his waistband and shot Rodriguez once in the chest. Rodriguez fell to the ground and the suspect was last seen walking away from the scene.

Rodriguez was transported to Ellis Hospital where he died late last night.

The suspect is described as being about 57 tall with a stocky build. He was last seen wearing an unknown color hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and brown work boots.

It is not known if Rodriguez and the suspect knew each other.
