Detectives are investigating the robbery of two men that occurred on Altamont Avenue at about 11:30 Tuesday night during which one of the victims was stabbed several times.

The 18- and 19-year-old victims who are not being identified were walking north on Altamont near Santa Fe Street when they were confronted by two black males who demanded money from them. The two robbers then attacked the 19-year-old and one stabbed him several times in the neck and back. The 18-year-old intervened and fought with the stabber. The two suspects then fled the scene possibly in a black 2-door sedan without getting anything from the victims.

The stabbing victim was treated at the scene by Schenectady Fire Department paramedics and transported to Albany Medical Center. He is currently in stable condition with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening. The other man was not injured.

The stabber is described as being in his late teens or early 20s, short and heavyset, and was wearing dark clothing. The other suspect is also believed to be in his late teens or early 20s. He is described as being tall and skinny, and was wearing dark clothing, a yellow and black baseball cap, and a ski mask.
