SUBJECT:ELDERLY MAN ROBBED DURING OVERNIGHT GUNPOINT BURGLARY
Detectives are investigating the overnight burglary of a home in which the elderly resident was held and robbed at gunpoint by two suspects.
The incident occurred at about 2 a.m. when two men – one armed with a rifle and the other with a knife – forced their way through a sliding glass door at 1298 Waverly Place and confronted the 91-year-old male resident who was home alone. The men were inside the house for about 30 minutes, and stole a small amount of money and a .22 rifle. The men cut the phone line and then fled in an unknown direction.
The victim – who is not being identified – went to nearby Ellis Hospital to report the incident and was not harmed by the suspects.
Suspect 1’s race is unknown, and is described as being about 5’6” tall and stocky build. Suspect 2 is described as being white, about 5’11” tall and stocky build. Both men appeared to be in their mid 30’s, and were wearing black masks and all dark clothing.
