A 22-year-old city man wanted for the August 6th, 2006 shooting of 3 men inside the Olympic Diner on Brandywine Avenue has been apprehended in Tennessee.

Michael Estella, who lived at 1334 Chrisler Avenue at the time of the shooting, was arrested in Johnson City, Tennessee last week on drug charges. Through a police computer check, Tennessee authorities learned that Estella was being sought for the shooting.

The shooting occurred at about 5:40 a.m., shortly after Estella and one of the victims argued over a girl. Estella left the diner and returned with a semi-automatic handgun. He entered the diner which was packed with about two dozen people at the time and fired several shots at the man he had argued with, striking the victim and two other men. Estella then fled the scene. The three shooting victims were treated at local hospitals and have since recovered from their injuries.

Arrangements are currently being made to have the U.S. Marshals return Estella to Schenectady for prosecution. He will be charged with the felonies of Attempted Murder-2nd degree, Assault-1st degree, Reckless Endangerment-1st degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon-2nd and 3rd degree.
