SUBJECT:BLACK SEDAN SOUGHT AFTER STRIKING BICYCLIST / FLEEING

The Department is requesting the public’s help in locating the driver of an older model black Acura sedan with front-end damage after he struck a 13-year-old city bicyclist on Tuesday afternoon and then fled the scene.

The incident occurred at about 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Duane Avenue and McClyman Street. Angel Acosta was riding his bike south on McClyman and crossing Duane when the car, operated by a black male and traveling east on Duane, struck him in the intersection. The car then continued east on Duane Avenue. Acosta was treated for a head injury at the scene by Schenectady Fire Department paramedics and was conscious when he was transported to St. Clare’s Hospital. His condition is not known at this time.
