SUBJECT:EARLY MORNING SHOOTING INJURES CITY MAN

Detectives are investigating the shooting of a 23-year-old city man that occurred on Sixth Avenue near Webster Street in Mont Pleasant at about 3:30 this morning.

Derrick McCray was shot once in the back during an argument with 3 black males, one of whom was armed with a handgun. The argument reportedly began when McCray confronted the group about disrespectful comments they made to two female acquaintances he was with. He was treated at the scene by Schenectady Fire Department paramedics and transported to Albany Medical Center where he is currently listed in stable condition.

The shooter is described as a dark-skinned black male in his early 20s, about 59 tall and skinny. He was wearing a long white t-shirt, dark jeans, and a black ball cap with red trim.
