SUBJECT:Arrest Made in Early Morning Rite Aid Robbery Attempt

A Scotia woman has been arrested and charged in connection with an early morning attempted robbery at Rite Aid Pharmacy, 1203 Eastern Avenue. Police responded to the store just before 7:30 this morning after receiving a call from store personnel reporting a woman entered the store, stated she had a gun and attempted to steal money. The suspect soon left after an unsuccessful attempt to open a cash register.

Rite Aid personnel contacted other area company stores making them aware of the Eastern Avenue incident and providing a suspect description. Alert store personnel at the 1863 Central Avenue Rite Aid contacted Colonie Police at around noon today after observing in their store a female that fit the Schenectady suspect description. Schenectady Detectives were notified, responded to the Colonie store and made the arrest.

Karin Ann Maioriello, 55, of 11 Hawk Street, Scotia, has been charged with Attempted Robbery Second Degree. She was arraigned this afternoon in Schenectady City Court and remanded to the county jail without bail.
