SUBJECT:DETECTIVES INVESTIGATING EARLY MORNING SHOOTING

Detectives are investigating an incident that occurred at about 4:50 this morning in the area of State Street and Snowden Avenue, in which 2 men were shot.

Patrol Officers responded to that location for a call of a loud argument between several people during which several gunshots were fired. All of the people involved were gone when officers arrived, but shortly thereafter, the Department received calls from both St. Clare’s and Ellis Hospitals advising that they were treating a male gunshot victim. Both men had been transported to the hospitals in separate private vehicles, and both were conscious.

The victim taken to St. Clare’s – Jubbar Singleton, 31, of Schenectady – was shot in the chest and groin. Singleton was transferred to Albany Medical Center, where he underwent surgery and is currently recovering. According to medical staff, his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

The victim taken to Ellis – Joseph Johnson, 24, also of Schenectady – was shot in the back. He underwent surgery and is recovering at Ellis. According to medical staff, his injury also does not appear to be life-threatening.
