SUBJECT:ARMED ROBBER CAUGHT BY OBSERVANT OFFICER

A man who had just robbed the Stewart’s shop at 1033 Erie Boulevard at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday evening was quickly caught by an observant patrol officer. Officer Sean Clifford was on patrol near the Stewart’s shop when he saw a man running from the store. Officer Clifford was suspicious and began following the man on nearby John Street. As he followed the subject, Officer Clifford advised Communications to call Stewart’s to ascertain if anything had happened. Upon calling Stewart’s, Communications learned that a male subject had just robbed the store at knifepoint, and advised Officer Clifford. The subject attempted to elude Officer Clifford, but after a short foot chase, Officer Clifford took the subject into custody on the railroad tracks behind the Polar Beverages warehouse on Front Street. The knife believed to have been used in the robbery, and money that was taken from the store, were recovered.
